Living in Los Angeles, CA, I was tired of being a small fish in a big pond, especially after the writers’ strike. I just asked myself how much longer I wanted to do that and struggle with the Hollywood ups and downs. I knew that I loved Louisiana’s food and culture. I, also, knew that I did not want to be anywhere that a hurricane might come, so I began looking at places in the northern parts of the state. Using the internet, I started researching the demographics of different towns and came across Bastrop. I liked what I saw and started talking to an area realtor. Since then, I have purchased a home and opened a new business in the historic downtown. I have found the people of Bastrop to be very friendly, helpful, and supportive of my new business, The Wandering Chef. In addition to operating my business, I offer private cooking lessons.
